In January 2007, Carmen was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to the Circuit Court, 12th Judicial Circuit, 4th sub circuit (Will County). Appointed to the bench for the office of the 4th sub circuit after an extensive application, evaluation and interview process that included a close review of candidates and their qualifications and after recommendation by an independent 16-person advisory committee made up of representatives from the community and legal profession. “Ms Goodman has an outstanding record as a trial attorney, she comes to the bench with a reputation as a highly respected, experienced practitioner” said Timothy Bertschy, co-chair of the advisory committee and past President of the Illinois State Bar Association.
“She has a very diverse background with a special interest in caring for people, including a background in foster care and working to provide legal services to the poor,” said retired Illinois Appellate Judge Tobias Barry co-chair of the advisory committee.

Carmen Goodman is seeking election in the November 2010 general election. With your help and support she can have the privilege to once again serve the people of Will County on the bench.

Carmen has extensive trial experience having tried over 180 cases to verdict mainly criminal felonies. She has handled hundreds of some of the most serious Will County cases ranging from murder, arson, reckless homicide, aggravated traffic, DUI, domestic battery, home invasion, burglary, residential burglary, child abduction, retail theft, drug trafficking and have handled mental hearings. As an attorney she was promoted to supervise over other attorneys in misdemeanor and felony cases. As a judge, she was invited to participate in the Judicial Faculty training for future education of other fellow judges.

| Carmen was also featured in the Chicago Law Bulletin as a judge and on the media program of reporter Harry Porterfield’s “Someone You Should Know” after being appointed to the bench. |

Carmen has invaluable experience in handling serious criminal cases and by representing indigent clients in civil housing matters and social security regulation.
